Hi everyone,
I’m excited to share with you a new EP that I’ve been working on with Cities and Memory, a global sound project that remixes the world one sound at a time. The EP is called At Night, and it’s inspired by the sounds of night and darkness from different places around the world.
Cities and Memory sent me a selection of field recordings captured at night, ranging from a supermarket playing traditional Chilean music to airport sounds in Saudi Arabia, from the waves crashing on a beach in England to a market in Thailand. My challenge was to use these sounds as the basis for creating four original tracks that explore the themes of nightfall, dreams, insomnia and dawn.
The result is At Night, an EP that blends ambient textures, electronic beats and guitar melodies into a sonic journey through the dark hours. You can listen to it on Bandcamp, or check out the interactive sound map that shows you where each sound came from.
I hope you enjoy listening to At Night as much as I enjoyed making it. It was a great opportunity to collaborate with Cities and Memory, one of my favourite sound projects that covers more than 100 countries and territories with over 5000 sounds and 1000 artists. If you’re interested in learning more about their work, you can visit their website or follow them on Twitter.
Thanks for your support and happy listening!
